Hine Hire Pty. Ltd. is a family business which has evolved over three generations. In 1945 Frank and Thelma Hine formed Hine Catering Service selling ice creams, lollies and hotdogs on Upper Ferntree Gully station to day trippers on Puffing Billy.
Frank and Thelma together with their sons, Bill and Robin, continued to operate the family business with eventually Bill and Robin taking a major part in servicing the community catering for country shows, horse race meetings, weddings, parties and motor bike events like Phillip island.
A big break came when the business gained catering rights at the swimming events in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. In 1959 the family built their wedding reception centre “The Billabong” next to the family home in Elgar Road Box Hill. Many families in the Box Hill and surrounding areas had their 21st, engagement or wedding at the Billabong.
Over the years the hire side of the business slowly expanded as the company built up a reputation of a totally professional service to their clients.
The Company has now moved to new premises in Rowville where Robin is joined by his son Raymond and Bill's son Phillip to continue with the third generation of the family business supplying hire equipment and marquee’s all over Victoria and interstate for all types of functions, expo’s, shows and parties.
With a Company which has served the community over three generations, clients can be confident and assured of first class service and friendly attention to their every need. We look forward to being of service!
